A Gouldsboro man who plead guilty to a string of arsons that occurred in 2023 in Wayne and Lackawanna Counties has been sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison. 33-year-old Michael Yzkanin was sentenced in Wayne County Court this week after admitting to setting fires that destroyed two vacant buildings in Gouldsboro in April of last year, including the former Gouldsboro Inn. Yzkanin also pled guilty to related charges in Lackawanna County, where authorities say he set fires in Jessup Borough at the Library Plaza on the 900 block of Church Street and at the former Liberty Pizza building on the 600 block of 4th Avenue. Both incidents occurred in mid-April 2023. He was taken into custody in June 2023 and has remained incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility since his arrest.
